“When you arise in the morning, think of what a privilege it is to be alive
- to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.”

That pretty much sums up Ros and Jules’ amazing approach to life. These guys are just the most beautiful people around.

It didn’t just rain on Ros’ wedding day , it frickin poured, but I didn’t catch her frown or complain once.  She was like “Oh dear, it’s raining” and I was like, “Yep”. She smiled, which made me smile. You can’t help but do that when your around Ros.

There no are no two people we would rather spend a rainy day with. Thanks for having us guys ox

Wow, it’s been along time between blog posts! We’ve been a little bit busy lately. Actually, we’ve already shot 25 weddings this year. 25 beautiful weddings. All worthy of a blog post.

But you have to start somewhere and no there no place I’d rather start than with Elisha & Entcho.

I won’t say much more about this wedding other than shooting an awesome couple in the State Library of Victoria is awesome (I know, I said awesome twice). I hope I get to do it again, although, just like kisses, the first time is always the sweetest.

Thanks for having me Elisha & Entcho, I’m a lucky girl. ox

We shot this wedding back in November, one week after our own. You’d think getting straight back to work after your own wedding might be a bit of a bummer, be we were almost looking forward to Jen and Liam’s day as much as our own!

From the photos you’ll hopefully see that this wedding looked pretty cool, very Melbourne, very chic. We knew it would be. Jen’s a designer and the talented Nadia Prater helped her style and plan this beautiful day.

But there was so much more to this day than good taste and careful planning. Being a wedding photographer, you get a backstage pass into your client’s lives for just one day, and it’s a pretty damn important day! You really get to see what makes them tick and the things they hold dearest to their hearts. For Jen and Liam it was really clear that the people in their lives are their top priority, their warmth and generosity was evident in every part of their carefully thought out day.

And now, the photos…

Now that we’ve well and truly settled into this new year, I feel it’s time to take a deep breathe and recollect the amazing events of the year that’s just passed.

As a couple, as a business, as individuals, 2012 was the most life changing and amazing year ever! Did we mention that we got married? Yeah we did. It was fricking amazing! You often hear people say that nothing’s different after you get married. Well, I don’t agree with that. Sure, things pretty much stay the same, but for us, I feel that the bond is stronger, for better or worse. It’s pretty spesh.

Now we’re looking ahead to Luma’s busiest year to date. We’ve got big plans for 2013 and I’ve got a feeling it’s going to be great!

After getting to know Jess & Luke over the past 12 months, and hearing all about the late night crafting activities and the metres of bunting that was being created, we knew this was going to be a beautiful wedding, and it was.

So much to say about this wonderful day that I don’t know where to begin. For all the pretty stuff I’ll let the photos do the talking.

But weddings aren’t all about pretty things. Luke and Jess will grow old together.

That’s pretty beautiful I think.

This is my favorite kind of pre-wedding shoot. Relaxed, natural and with two people who are so in love that all you need is a camera and great light to create pure awesomeness, you leave the rest up to them.

We shot these 2 days before Jen & Liam’s big day, which was a pleasure and honour to be a part of. You’ll see more of that soon, but for now…

Meet Jennifer and Liam.

I’ll start this post by saying that I think Daylesford has to be the ultimate location for a winter wedding. It feels like winter in a good way in Daylesford, you embrace the cold, you even enjoy it.

This wedding was just gorgeous. I can see why The Convent Gallery is one of the highest rated wedding venues in Australia. It’s run by a a charming woman called Tina who has obviously poured her heart and soul into this place. The result is a venue just as spectacular as it is cosy & homely. It’s got heart, soul, history and a whole lot of flair!

We met Mardi, Sturt & Polly through old friends and we’re so glad they chose us to be their photographers.

Here are some of the highlights from a truly inspiring day.

This is Jessica & Luke.

We’re shooting their wedding in November. Jessica is English and like all brits, she loves a good cup of tea. That in mind we thought afternoon tea in Alfred Nicolas Gardens would be the perfect setting for their pre-wedding shoot.

Jess & Luke are also collectors of antiques and anything vintage. I’m really looking forward to seeing what they come up with for their DIY wedding at Mont De Lancey and Gum Gully Farm.

Here’s a taste of things to come.

When we first met Andrea & Matt we knew their wedding would be awesome. We’ve been looking forward to shooting this wedding all year, and since we shot it we’ve been dying to blog it. When they confirmed their booking with us I’ll admit to doing a little fist pump accompanied by “sweet!”, a little dance may have followed but it was a while ago so I can’t be sure.

Why was this one so special? One reason. They had it at the NGV. No two reasons, they had it at the NGV and they’re a damn hot couple who also happen to be really awesome people.

This wedding didn’t happen in the usual way that weddings happen, and I loved it!

Andrea & Matt arrived together, hand in hand, all cool calm and collected and ready to get married. We took some photos of them for an hour, strolled back to the Grollo Equisit Gardens, bumped into some friends on the way, had a little chat, then when they were ready they were like, “do you think we should get married now?”.

So they did. It was great.
